LOVE:
LOVE
is the theme of our new Spiritual Renewal booklet. It includes three LOVE related scripture backgrounds as well as summaries of Pastor Don’s sermons.  Those sermons address Positivity, Spirituality and Servanthood and were preached on selected Sundays from October 4, 2015 through May 15, 2016. The booklet is one approach to consider for use during your meditations. You can pick up your booklet while the supplies last at the table located in the narthex. (see attachment)
For those with Internet capabilities, The booklet is now online at https://staging.yorkfirst.org/srbooklet/.  The link provides quick direct links to pastoral messages preached in this renewal journal series.

JULY 24-28, 2016 – VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – July 24 – 28, – CAVE QUEST: Following Jesus The Light of the World!   Christian Ed has chosen the week of July 24-28, 2016 for VBS.  Many volunteers are needed to make this outreach to our community a success.  Please contact Nancy Gipe, Vivian Hubbell, Stephanie Stoolmaker, Deb Klinedinst, Carol Gordon or Judy Deitch if you are willing to help in any way.  Big brown packing paper and black fabric will be needed for decorations.  If you have either of these items, please bring them to church and place them in the office or in the Christian Ed room.  Thank you!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL DONATIONS – Our service project for Cave Quest VBS this year will be having the children pack boxes for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.  We will need many items to fill the boxes for boys or girls ages 5-9.  These boxes are delivered during the Christmas season to children in need throughout the world.  The boxes will be delivered to a local collection center later in the year, so we will not have any shipping costs. ALL ITEMS MUST BE NEW AND MAY NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING LIQUID OR BREAKABLE.  Items such as dolls, musical instruments, stuffed animals, balls, jump ropes, crayons, markers, coloring books, picture books, toothbrushes (a local dentist donated toothbrushes and dental floss for 50 boxes and toothpaste for 30 boxes, so we have all that we need of these items), soap, combs, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, etc. may be purchased to put into the boxes.  Here is a web site that shows items that may or may not be included if you would like to see how a box is filled – https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/what-goes-in-my-shoeboxsuggestions/. REMEMBER THAT ALL ITEMS NEED TO FIT IN THE SHOE BOXES.

The bulletin board in the narthex will have additional items listed that you may want to donate such as the Cave Quest outdoor banner sign, the Cave Quest starter kit, CDs for each family attending VBS, the chalk talk by Joe Hurst after the dinner on the last evening and more.  New items will be added each week as we discover what is needed for snack time, story time and game time.  If you take a lantern, hiking boot or campfire paper off the bulletin board with a requested item, please put your name and item on the list on the easel. We are still in need of 2 LITER SODA BOTTLES, black or brown fabric, brown paper such as comes in the packaging of a box from Amazon, and clear or colored cellophane.   Your donations will help spread joy to children in our local area and throughout the world!    There will be a donation box by the bulletin board or you can place your donations in the church office.  Thank you!!!
